Micropin - advanced, artwork-free bartop pinball from 1979!
Matt Walsh, Ken Sumrall

A Southern California company set out to build and operate a half-scale bartop pinball called Micropin Pentacup.
In the process they challenged everything we thought we knew about pinball - like, um, should it have a coin slot?
Some of the results are visionary, others unfortunate but all interesting.
We will have at least one example at the show and in this talk.

So you want to buy a pinball machine: Acquisition, Feeding, and Basic Maintenance
Tim Showalter

In this Q&A session, we offer advice on how to find a pinball machine, what to look for in a used game, a little bit about how much to pay,
some maintenance advice, and the single most important maintenance tip. (Spoiler: That tip is to remember to change the batteries!)

Special screening of the SXSW 2020 Documentary "Insert Coin"
Josh Tsui

INSERT COIN is the amazing behind-the-scenes story of one of the greatest video game studios of all time – Midway Games.
Led by the “Godfather of Videogames” Eugene Jarvis, the company pioneered the concept of live action gaming, kickstarting a new arcade
boom and grossing billions of dollars in the process with massive hits like Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam.

Through intimate and often hilarious interviews with the people who were there, we witness how a small, tight-knit group of friends deal with
next level success and the roller coaster ride that comes with it.

"Sometimes the right subject finds the right person behind the camera...and that's what makes Insert Coin much more than your average video
game behind-the-scenes documentary."

"With entertaining and fascinating nuggets throughout, ‘Insert Coin’ is a lot of fun. It’s a wonderful companion piece for a very significant era in
gaming history."
James Swirsky
Co-Director of Indie Game: The Movie
"Superbly told. A love letter to the wild west era of game-making, where—with just a keyboard and joystick—the outlaws broke all the rules
and in the process made some of the greatest games in the 80s and 90s.”
Blake Harris
Author of Console Wars, The History Of The Future
